I am a multidisciplinary ecologist interested in basic and applied questions in ecology and conservation (and occasionally evolution). My academic journey began as a field myrmecologist specialising in the ecology and behaviour of ants in urbanised ecosystems. My research interests are diverse, but most of my research revolves around human-nature interactions. My approach is firmly grounded in data, both from my own field studies and from the compilation and harmonisation of open source datasets.
My work is driven by the conviction that humans are an integral part of nature and that our continued coexistence depends on the rapid development of sustainable relationships with the natural world, but also between human societies. This requires a deep understanding and recognition of the interdependence of ecological and human systems.
